Mexico City, Nov 1 (EFE) .- The Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) advanced this Monday by 0.67% in its main indicator to reach 51,653.26 points, in a day that reported gains for 25 of the 35 main stations.
Within the Price and Quotation Index (IPC), the main indicator of the Mexican market, “by issuer there were gains in 25 of the 35 main companies included in the sample,” Banco Base analyst Karla Bajos told Efe.
He highlighted that among the companies with positive results were Grupo Televisa (+ 4.74%), Volaris (+3.6%) and Alfa (+ 3.22%), while “most of the sectors closed in positive territory, with the exception of the financial one “.
He added that the positive close helped the IPC “spin two sessions to the upside, although it remained below the key level of 52,000 points.”
The specialist recalled that the 35 main issuers included in the IPC sample finished reporting their quarterly results, “which were mostly considered weak as they averaged a 3.99% contraction compared to market expectations.”
With the advance of this day, the Mexican index registers a positive performance accumulated so far this year of 17.22%, supported by the economic recovery.
During the day, the Mexican peso depreciated 1.01% against the dollar, trading at 20.81 units per greenback on the interbank market.
The IPC closed at 51,653.26 units with a gain of 343.42 points and a positive variation of 0.67% compared to the previous session.
The volume traded in the market reached 124.9 million titles for an amount of 12,884 million pesos (about 619.1 million dollars).
