Photojournalist Alfredo Cardoso died this Sunday after being shot last Friday in the Mexican port of Acapulco, in the state of Guerrero, informs AP, quoting Jan Albert Hootsen, Mexico representative of the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
The attack against Cardoso came a day after journalist Fredy López Arévalo was shot dead as he arrived at his home in San Cristóbal de las Casas, in the state of Chiapas.
The undersecretary of Human Rights, Population and Migration, Alejandro Encinas, pointed out at the beginning of October that 47 journalists and 94 human rights defenders were assassinated in Mexico in the three years of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the agency recalls.
