Influencers and gamers who use Twitch as a streaming platform had a nasty surprise last week. An anonymous group published 135 GB of internal data from the streaming platform. The sums that Twitch pays out to its streamers were also disseminated. This once again made it more transparent for the general public which financial opportunities streaming offers.
The group that apparently scampered the data and put it online has not yet published everything that it has. They described their motivation for the leaks drastically: “The community is a poisonous cesspool, so we want to disrupt operations and encourage competition in the online streaming market.”
What could the group have meant by that? What exactly does Twitch offer for possibilities? How big is the service and what is the difference between streaming on Twitch and Youtube?
